We love Tossa and have been every year since 1982 but since retirement we have spread our wings , as have many others , and have traveled to other destinations.
I will just mention one of our favourites as it has been very much in the news and in our minds recently.
Burma (or Myanmar) is a magical country and we have been seven times since 1996. The politics are horrible but as Maggie Thatcher famously said "if you disapproved of a countries politics you wouldn't even cross the Channel" !!
Burma has wonderful temples , fabulous scenery , and great beaches with modern hotels and airlines but it is Third World and we always tried to use non-government agents etc. so that our money went into the locals hands.
The Burmese , probably because of their Buddist belief , are the most charming , friendly and calm people you could meet and still respect the British after 60 years of Independence.
We became very friendly with a Burmese family and a group of us have supported their project of a school for poor and deprived children in Insien , Yangon.
We had planned to take out some more $ for the school and had booked to return for a holiday over New Year but have now had to cancel due to our Travel Insurance being invalid in Burma (we would still have gone , inspite of the problems) and , as we were committed to flights , had a mad weekend changing our travel plans to now visit Laos and then Krabi.
I think we got the last seats on the plane from Bangkok to Laos on the 30th December and the last bedroom over New Year.
What a nightmare!
And we moan about Ryanair!
As winter approaches and pc's again come to life we would be interested to see posts of other exiting (or normal)destinations and experiences from the Tossa Bloggers.
