So to give a balance to the reviews we remembered we had not posted on our only (and last) visit , one very rainy day in September.
This long established restaurant is on the same road as other restaurants such as L`Adjustada,Tapas6`9 and La Paella.
From a small entrance it opens out to a large L shaped seating area which can handle about 70 covers. There is a small open courtyard with four tables. There is a busy and popular bar opposite ,to which diners move onto after eating.
Not a place for "fine dining"-the main attraction is the great value Menu Dia with a choice of 6 or 8 starters and main courses, mostly for Northern European tastes - very few Spanish dishes.
Giant salads, enormous bowls of soup, smoked fish as starters and then plates piled high with meat and two veg are the order of the day and it attracts many regulars , mostly from Germany,Holland Belgium and GB.
Desserts are limited as most don't have space after the main meal-real trencherman food.
Service from the staff is efficient but the owner Rosa and her son stay mainly by the bar chatting to the regulars.
There is a large and impressive oil painting of Rosa on the wall - all very grand although I think we blotted our copybook by commenting to her son "that it was a good likeness of his wife".!!!!
Many smokers and only a small non smoking area ,and on a couple of occasions we have had to suffer continuous chain smoking throughout a meal.
Seems to have regular fans but we will not be returning.

Like you- we have always had a la carte and it is a different experience from the menu el dia.
A posting on another site was scathing - they had a toddler with them and they were stuck in a corner table and had very poor service and had to go to the counter to order.
They were very disappointed with the menu and portion sizes.
However there are many happy regulars.

Each to their own but we love Cafe Berlin, but we dont eat from the 10 euro menu. We always choose from the main menu and have always had a fabulous meal. For the last 4 times we have been to Tossa we have been at the Bahia so have not eaten out so it has been at least 5 years since we have been to Cafe Berlin but Quico remembered us straight away. We find it friendly and very comfortable. Forums © 2000-05 Snitz Communications Go To Top Of Page
