Unfortunately, there will be a delay with the newsletter which is due to be published week ending 12 February.

The delay is due to some serious computer problems I have experienced. Unfortunately, just before Christmas, one of my hard drives on my main PC failed. Despite almost three weeks of trying, my PC technician was unable to recover my files.

Although I had backed-up a number of photos and videos to DVD, unfortunately, I hadn't got round to backing up the entire PC. I have sadly lost many of the photos that were sent to me by Forum members. Basically, if you haven't yet seen your photos used in a photo movie or a newsletter, then I have lost them.

Another major problem is that I have lost all the project files for the photo movies and Virtual Tour videos, which means I will be unable to make the DVD I was planning. Although I still have the finished videos and photo movies, they are in a format only suitable for web viewing, and they wouldn't be good enough for DVD.

I will eventually, some time in the future, re-do everything, but it will be a while off yet as all the work done on this website is done in my spare time, which at the moment is a bit thin on the ground!

Foolishly, I assumed that my PC had been configured in a certain way, so that my two hard drives mirrored each other, so should one fail, the other would contain a back-up of all my files. But this was not the case. Had I known that, I would have made more of an effort to back everything up to DVD regularly.

I have learned a major lesson here and I would like to share it with everyone so you can take this opportunity to check how your PC is set up, and to make regular back-ups, to DVD or CD, or whatever, of all your precious files and photos.

This has really caused me great upset and I sincerely hope it never happens to any of you. Please, please back-up your PC, regularly.

Apologies again for the delay in the next newsletter, I will get it done as soon as I can. And apologies also for the postponement of the DVD.

Best wishes

Have missed you, but thought there may be a problem. Will pay heed to your advice about back up. Hope all goes well from now on.
