Think man-made complex amidst rows and rows of housing estates. A supermarket, an opticians, a couple of estate agents, 29 Indian restaurants, 2 Chineses and several pie-and-chips establishments.
Our hotel in the middle. Then 6 bars offering riveting entertainment such as darts, warm English bitter and pie eating.
One beach bar every half hour serving sour wine and one that didn't even know what Bacardi was - a cardinal sin which didn't go down too well with Kevin. Unfinished residential complexes where open spaces destined to be landscaped gardens lay littered with rubbish, sprouting weeds and bits of sawn-off pipe. Oh, and great abandoned lumps of concrete. Excruciatingly poor public transport links and taxis that miss their exit from the motorway and not wanting to end up in Almeria, think it a good idea to REVERSE down a high speed road. Until the driver saw the looks of horror on our faces and thought better of it.
