Thursday went by in a bit of a whizz. We went out exploring again, this time turning right out of the ‘resort’. We came across another shanty town boasting an electrical shop, a dusty looking book and newspaper shop, a taxi rank consisting of two taxis propped up by two very bored looking drivers, a shoddy looking hotel, and a Spar. These were obviously designed to serve the people that lived in the surrounding housing ‘estate’. We also tripped over a number of cement mixers and builders making even more houses just to fill any small, wasted gaps that could easily house an ex-pat or two.

But what was this we could see before our eyes? A mirage perhaps? No! There were three restaurants! Amazing in this place where services such as this are rather hard to come by. And one of them actually had a Spanish menu! Naturally one had an English menu, there was no getting away from it here, and the other had a Spanglish menu but the main course of the menu del dia didn’t sound all that appetising – prawns with strawberries. No thanks.

We ended up having a rather lovely lunch actually, although I had to chuck my wine away because it wasn’t even fit to sprinkle on my chips. Anyway, it was unbelievably cheap. We paid just €1 for a small beer! And the food was good, Kevin had a huge sole with proper boiled potatoes and I had chicken in my favourite sauce – Café de Paris.

We were stuffed, got back to the hotel, slept, and then it was time for dinner! Well there was nothing else to do here but eat and sleep.

Not one of our most exciting days, but no disasters either!

Unusually for us, we were actually looking forward to our last day of the holiday, that being Friday. We looked forward to having a slap up meal in the very posh restaurant in our hotel. We had been eating in there most nights – well, the only other options thus far had been Indian or pie and chips. It had always been good so we had nothing to worry about.

Or did we?

Well, you can't get it right everytime, but this holiday turned out to be very memorable Can't wait to be told what you got up to on your final day and I bet you are now counting the days to going to civilised, Spanish Tossa
We had a holiday similar to yours in Cyprus. It's a good job that old Jack was with us, as he knew where all the Cypriots hung out for food and drink, from a previous visit, but even then, some of them had been pulled down, to make way for hotels and apartments
