We went on a 'tour' of a few bars after a non-stomach lining meal of fish. Mistake
After a Cuba Libre or three I was quite 'tipsy' to say the least. We meandered our way back to the hotel and by accident found ourselves at the hotel bar drinking even more. I don't understand why but Sarah seemed ok (the legs were a bit wobbly but the brain was working). Not the case with me. On our return to the room I wasn't feeling at all well, so we took ourselves off for a walk on the beach (apparently).
Breakfast the next morning was a no-go for me. Later that day I discovered that word had got round the hotel about my alcohol-related illness.
That evening we were at the bar in the hotel. I was drinking coke only of course, and Sarah had a Chupito. I was feeling a bit better and went to take a sip of her drink, but was stopped in my tracks by a scream of 'noooooo' by the barman. He came running over and told me in a matter of fact way that they would not be serving me alcohol any more!
Such caring people! And that was it for the rest of the week - I wasn't allowed any more alcohol from the hotel bar!
I just hope they've wiped the slate clean for September!
....We are very good friends with all the bar staff in the Hotel Costa Brava....and their refusing to serve me was all a bit of a laugh....and I think they genuinely cared and didn't want me to get ill again!
Don't worry John, I will make sure he eats a hearty dinner first (plus I think the two Cuba Libres he had in the afternoon had something to do with the outcome as well!).
